Our Mission

It is the Mission of the Partnership for Children, Youth and Families to optimize access to quality and relevant resources for children, youth and families by elevating issues and facilitating successful community collaborations.

Community Engagement:

  • Ongoing Efforts:

    • Lights On After School – For eight years, PCYF has lead the coordination of community events to celebrate Lights On After School, part of a national celebration of after school programs during the 2nd week in October sponsored by the National After School Alliance.

    • Launched State of the Youth, providing an annual forum for youth voice to impact policy.

    • Provide community based organizations access to funders through our annual Conversation with the Funder Luncheons.

    • Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) – PCYF has served on the advisory committee for after school programs since the inception of this committee.  Currently, the committee is working on legislative remedies for more efficient distribution of 21st Century after school grants by the State.

  • Recent Efforts:

    • Successfully advocated for the Early Childhood Coordinator position with the City of Pasadena, leading to the establishment of the Office of the Young Child.

    • Supported the development of the Youth Master Plan.

  • Past Efforts:

    • The Asset Development Network of Greater Pasadena – The Partnership facilitated the collaboration of numerous agency representatives to educate the community about specific elements related to positive youth development.  This unique collaboration has been able to bring two nationwide leaders in the field of positive youth development, Dr. Peter Benson, Search Institute, and Dr. Richard Lerner, Tufts University to address both a Mayor’s reception for community leaders and a community-wide group of program providers.

    • The National League of Cities Technical Assistance Grant for Coordinating after school programs with the school day – PCYF has assisted the City in this effort with the development of a directory of after school programs distributed to children and youth in the PUSD elementary and middle schools.  PCYF has also played an active role in strategy development with theRevenue Action Team.

    • Mustangs On The Move – PCYF assisted MOTM with funding strategies.

    • The Map Project – PCYF sat on the Steering Committee for strategic planning for public health in the future.  The Map Project is being coordinated through the Pasadena Public Health Department.
